Ready to Remodel

A successfully orchestrated kitchen remodel can completely upgrade the livability of a home and this project is a great example. A compact house with a tiny kitchen, this was the perfect setting for a complete redesign. C&R Senior Designer Katya Grisaffi worked with the homeowner to determine her needs, hopes, and budget parameters. The result is a beautiful, functional and convenience-packed space. Before remodeling, the layout made working in the kitchen a real chore. The careful reorganization of the floor planmade better use of all existing square footage.

Starting From Scratch

The entire kitchen was deconstructed and rebuilt from the walls in. New insulation made the area much more energy efficient. A combination of semi-custom painted Maple cabinetry and open shelving provided storage and display space. New appliances were a welcome amenity.

Careful Choices Protect the Budget

Suede-finish laminate counter tops helped keep the project on budget while the tile back splash gave a look of luxury. A 24” Farm Sink contributed to the upscale appearance and the Chrome fixtures added a touch of bling.  Now the window area is a lovely eating nook and the consistent wood flooring creates a cohesive flow between the kitchen, nook, and all living areas.

Details, Details

New Fir flooring was installed in the kitchen/nook area and mud room to match the existing floors in the rest of the home. Custom wood work was installed to blend nicely with the existing classic trim. A new full-sized refrigerator now occupies the space where an apartment style refrigerator had stood. In addition, cabinetry, counter top, and open shelving provide work space and decorative storage. The full-sized range was replaced with a compact model that allowed for more counter space. A floor to ceiling pantry expanded storage even further. A final coat of fresh paint throughout the remodeled areas completed the brand new look.
