Endeavor to Succeed Benefit

By
Jo Koenig

The Medical Foundation of Marion & Polk Counties has a reputation for bringing notable speakers to our community. While raising funds to support MedAssist and Project Access, the Foundation continues in that tradition with the 9the Annual Benefit on Friday, April 26, 2013. This event will feature Captain Mark Kelly with a special guest appearance by Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.
The annual benefit for the Medical Foundation supports continuation and expansion of two valuable programs in the Mid-Willamette Valley of Oregon. The income from the benefit proides nearly 85% of the annual operating funds for both MedAssist and Project Access.

The Marion-Polk County Medical Society is a proactive advocate of physician and patient rights in both public and private sectors. The Society serves physicians and their patients by promoting ethical, educational and clinical standards for the medical profession. In addition to these services, the Society also facilitates affordable and free medical services for the uninsured of Marion and Polk counties. Purchase your tickets now to attend and support a wonderful cause.

Project Access

To increase access to healthcare services for uninsured residents in our community, the Medical Foundation of Marion & Polk Counties implemented a Project Access program in April 2009. It is a comprehensive, physician-led initiative of coordinated medical care provided by volunteer physicians, hospitals and other healthcare professionals. During the first year of operation, 474 people received free healthcare from the physicians, hospitals and other healthcare providers valued at more than $6 million. This has only scratched the surface. The growth of the program continues on an exponential curve with close to $2 million worth of healthcare already donated during the first three months of 2010.

MEDASSIST

Created by the Medical Foundation of Marion & Polk Counties, MedAssist was implemented in 2001. MedAssist provides uninsured residents of Marion and Polk counties with free access to life-saving prescription medications each month, which helps keep patients healthy and out of emergency rooms where it costs far more to provide care. MedAssist serves as a safety net for area residents who must choose between rent, food or life-saving medications. In 2009, MedAssist helped hundreds of our local citizens access free prescription medications valued at nearly $1.5 million. Like Project Access, MedAssist continues to grow at a tremendous rate as evidenced by providing free prescriptive medicines valued at $953,000 in just the first three months of 2010.

Both MedAssist and Project Access are supported by Salem, Santiam, and Silverton Hospitals, the Mid Valley Independent Physicians Association, Polk County Mental Health, members of the local medical community, and dozens of volunteers. To better serve our communities, offices are located in Salem, Woodburn, Stayton, and Dallas,

C&R Remodeling enthusiastically supports the Medical Society and their efforts to provide quality medical care to all community member groups and individuals.
