Kitchen Reflects Heart of Oregon Wine Country
Situated on a peak in the heart of Oregon wine country, this home needed to relate to the environment in a natural way. C&R designed and remodeled the kitchen to embrace and reflect the spectacular rural setting.
The homeowner’s taste for Northwest art includes a love of wood carvings, ceramics, glass, and wall art. Those pieces were carefully incorporated into the overall design. Appropriate display spaces were high on the list of priorities.
A wood carved sink panel was imagined and commissioned by C&R Designer Linda Stewart. This piece artistically relates to other carvings in the home.
In a departure from the ordinary, glass opal tiles were inlaid in the granite countertop. Small amounts of this same glass tile add touches of surprise to the neutral backsplash.
Cherry wood materials were individually selected for knot and grain through collaboration between our designer, cabinetmaker, and the homeowner. These were used to craft the custom cabinets as well as the refrigerator and dishwasher panels. The existing windows were unaltered and the layout flows around them as if it was always meant to be this way.
A live-edge wood slab eating bar adds yet another unexpected custom touch and gives this kitchen a true Northwest ambience.
The color palette was based on the existing fireplace stone and those colors were incorporated throughout the remodel.
